CONGRATS TO MICHELE!   YOU ARE AN IRONMAN!!

I met Michele at the 2012 Capitol View Triathlon.  She has been a great supporter of Effcansah & an inspiration!!  She recently finished the 2013 Ironman in Madison on September 8th.

WHY
EFFCANSAH
?

I have lost my mother, aunt & a friend due to various forms of cancer.   In April of 2010 I was diagnosed with Stage 1 Invasive Lobular breast cancer.  I remember those that helped me through tough times & want to share my experience & support  those who are or have been battling this disease.

My Aunt Kathy (dad's sister) was diagnosed with Stage 3 endometrial cancer in April of 2012.  She was in a study which administered chemo treatments that were 3 days in a row every 4 weeks.  In January of 2013 she received great news & her scans came back clear!

Her spirits were always high & wore her Effcansah sweatshirt at every treatment!

HOW THE BEEP DID YOU COME UP WITH EFFCANSAH?

Throughout our ordeal, my husband would say "F... CANCER" and when said in his Boston accent he would obviously put an A on the end of any word that you should have an R.  He later surprised me by naming our ski boat “Effcansah”.

The name is like any other good boat name.  It takes people a minute to figure it out but once they get it they understand & most can relate.  In this day & age almost everyone has had someone they know who has battled or lost their fight with cancer. It is kind of a fancy word for the obvious & was our battle cry.   Effcansah!!!!!

IN MEMORY
OF
MY MOTHER

From the left is my grandmother (Marge), myself (Dawn) & my mom (Karen) who passed away 12/29/10 after over  a two year battle with cancer. She was a caring mother who loved reading, gardening & spending time with my father whom she was married to for over 40 years.

MY AUNT

My Aunt Arlene was my moms sister  & best friend.   She passed away 2/9/07 & battled cancer for over two years.  The doctors could not find the primary source of the cancer.   She was such a loving & positive person.

MY FRIEND

My friend Kyle was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer & it was an unknown primary.  Throughout every treatment he stayed strong, positive & did not want anyone to feel sorry for him.  He lost his battle on 2/17/10.
